Dress Shoes Need Good Socks

I am always amazed at the variety of clothes that people find to wear. It seems that everyone brings their unique style to what ever it is they choose to wear. I am always very fashion conscious. I tend to dress in classic clothes rather than trendy fashions. I use accessories to keep my look updated. I look at each piece of clothing that I buy as an investment. I am always making sure that the things I buy can be mixed and matched with other pieces so that it seems that I have a larger wardrobe. I achieve this by buying quality trousers and skirts in basic colors that I can dress up or down with blouses, sweaters and blazers. I also use jewelry, scarves and different dress shoes to make the outfits look different.

I have always believed the saying that shoes can make or break an outfit. So many times I will see someone with a very sharp looking business suit and then they have on casual shoes rather than dress shoes. This really takes away from the outfit. There are also the people that wear dress shoes with casual wear. This is usually a fashion mistake that is made by men. I cannot believe the number of times I have seen a man dressed in jeans, sweatshirt and white socks paired with a pair of wingtips or other dress shoes. Then there are the men that put on a pair of shorts but leave on dark socks and dress shoes. People make jokes about this all the time, yet this fashion mistake happens all the time.

One of my friends at work and I often joke about people needing to place mirrors in their houses. Other workers in our office refer to us as the fashion police. We are not mean spirited in our assessment of others fashion sense, but we do get some good laughs about what some people choose to wear. One of our co-workers is a very nice person. She is great at her job. Unfortunately she always pants that are too short. Her pants do not fall past her ankle bone. She then wears nylons that often have runs in them and dress shoes. The combination makes her look like she cannot afford new socks or pants that fit. In reality her husband is a judge and she makes a very good income. Neither my friend nor I are willing to approach her about her fashion choices. We tell each other that everyone’s differences are what keep the world interesting.
